Are you the victim of defamation in the workplace?
If someone in your office constantly told you that your work was subpar, that you were not worthy of the position / salary / career you have strived to build for yourself, that you shouldn't bother trying new things as you would inevitably fail... at best you'd want to involve HR right? It might possibly even escalate to something more serious.
Pause for a second...
Have you ever contemplated similar thoughts about yourself? Especially if you are out on your own, building something magical for yourself... Have there been moments when your inner critic has knocked your confidence / ability / belief by telling you:
You're not ready
You're not good enough
You won't get it done in time
You're going to screw it up
Your inner critic is as guilty of defamation as any of the scenarios I started this post with. And yet we let ourselves get away with telling ourselves those wicked words over and over again.
Lawyer for the Emotional Defence
Imagine you could take your inner critic to court. Picture a scene where your defence lawyer is sharing with the judge and jury the hard, logical evidence (based on your story so far) that proves beyond reasonable doubt how capable and brave you are / have been / can be?
How easily would such this case of self-doubt be dismissed (when you actually take time to review the facts)?
It's an extreme analogy but the point is fair - plus this is what I do.
I am your Lawyer for the Emotional Defence*.
You ARE good enough, and I can prove it.
