You only need to play the right notes

You don't have to play ALL the notes ALL the time!
You only need to play the right notes.
Vinh Giang brilliantly suggests that great communicators imagine their voice to be a piano. They dip into the colour of the 88 different notes to captivate their audience.
When I first heard this, I loved it. Until I started seeing speakers try to use all 88 notes at the same time.
Back the fuck off "Mr Jazz Hands!"
Your 'business song'
The same is true in every aspect of your own business. You have a story that you want to share; a 'business song' that should stir your audience (your ideal clients) into action – taking to the metaphorical dance floor in a flurry of energy and excitement.
Melody, colour, dynamic, narrative, nuance, energy, rhythm, balance... I'm a total addict for all of those things. I'm like a story-absorbing Cookie Monster.
Gimme gimme gimme!
But please, PLEASE stay true to the melody, colour, dynamic, narrative, nuance, energy, rhythm, balance that authentically magnify YOUR story.
You only need to play the right notes
Stop playing someone else's song just to make a bit more noise!
Some of the most beautiful, memorable music in the world is made from a handful of notes.
That piano hook from Clocks by Coldplay is made up of just seven notes (eight if you count the E flat twice because it's played on two different octaves)
Create something magical, memorable... an infectious groove, an earworm, just by playing the notes that are right for your business song.
