The biggest problem being self-employed…?

Is your boss.

  • They’re answerable to no one

  • They’re over-excited

  • They’re overly-critical

  • They demand a huge amount from you

  • They want perfect

  • They want it today

  • They know how to play the guilt card

  • They bring your personal life to work

  • They even come with you on holiday

Basically they can be a bit of an inescapable pain in your backside.

HR would have a field day (except they’re in charge of that too!)

Whilst I joke (a little) above, self-care is one of the most critical and over-looked elements of running a healthy, happy and sustainable business.

That inner monologue of self-doubt and internalised beliefs has a habit of showing up like a difficult manager: setting impossible expectations, questioning every decision, and whispering that you’re not ready, not good enough, or not working hard enough.

Left unchecked, this inner boss can quietly sabotage your progress; keeping you from taking opportunities, putting yourself forward or committing to brave decisions.

The story you tell yourself becomes the ceiling you work under.
