In response to the prompt 'hands up if you love a good pie chart', this image contains a fan of four pages from a fully-illustrated survey, with pie charts and statistics. Over the top is a panel of text that reads. "Win a half-day 1:1 coaching packages worth £540"

Hands up if you love a good pie chart

Are you somebody who enjoys a good bit of data? What about if the numbers are exploring (and explaining) how mindset, self-value and self-belief have impacted business growth in 2026?

If that sounds a bit like you, you might want to add your thoughts to (and request a copy of) the annual Brave & Brilliant Business Owners Survey.

The 2026 Brave & Brilliant Business Owners Survey

It's been a year of hesitation for many: costs rising, Government budgets interrupting, uncertainty increasing... that would seem to be the overall feeling from business owners I have spoken to.

But what is your story? How has your own attitude towards recent 'global shenanigans' shaped your successes and challenges this past year?

Please have your say (and share the survey with anyone who you think might benefit from contributing).

What we've learned from last year

This will be the fourth Brave & Brilliant Business Owners Survey. Its purpose: to explore how confident business owners from all professions and sectors are feeling right now.

'Global shenanigans' (as I called them above) will play their part in the results I'm sure – rising costs, AI etc..., but it is our own reaction to that external noise that has the most impact on our business journey:

Event + Response = Outcome

(As I always say)

Some numbers for you from 2025

For those of you that put their hands up if you love a good pie chart:

  • 53% of the 74 businesses surveyed last year confirmed that their levels of confidence have had a positive effect on their business progress

  • When asked what their most common mindset challenge was, "Not being sure they had the necessary skills" was the most popular response (35%) with 43% suggesting, in a follow-up question, that "not being good enough" was the fear that tracked most with them

  • Pride (in what they have achieved and the difference they have made for their customers) was the single biggest motivator for business owners (70%)

From the overall responses to the survey, 2025 felt like a positive year overall. Is that still the case? What would your opinion be?
